OUR CARBON FIBER

OUR PROCESSING

When dealing with carbon fiber, K indicates the number of carbon fiber filaments forming a fiber bundle, a filament is very thin, about 1/20 of a hair, therefore a single bundle is never used, the fibers are intertwined to form a fabric.

The K factor has no correlation with quality, but with the weight, strength and appearance of the fabric.

The fiber used by Scapin is 3K, which indicates that there are 3,000 carbon fiber filaments in a bundle, which is the most suitable combination for optimizing weight with the mechanical strength of the bicycle frame.

The impregnated and fiber-reinforced material, containing epoxy resin, is manually placed in the mold and subsequently inserted in the autoclave.

The autoclave is an apparatus,  equipped with an hermetic inside closure, in which, through remote digital controls, it is possible to manage the temperature, vacuum and pressure levels to obtain the polymerization of the resin.

This technique is used for resin polymerization and, due to the high quality and mechanical standards it is able to guarantee, is considered the best choice.

Once polymerization is achieved, through the combination of vacuum and temperature, the frame is extracted from the mold and manual finishing is carried out.

The result is that each piece, in addition to its being unique, is checked in detail to guarantee its final quality.
